Rent-a-Trailcam

1. What is Rent-a-Trailcam?

Rent-a-Trailcam provides solar-powered 4G trail camera rentals for wildlife monitoring, farm security, and property observation. You can rent a camera for short or extended periods without the cost of purchasing your own.

2. How does the rental process work?

  1. Choose your rental period

  2. Add the refundable security deposit and courier service to your cart

  3. Complete checkout

  4. We deliver the camera to your address

  5. Use the camera for the rental period

  6. Courier collects the camera at the end of the rental

3. What rental periods are available?

We currently offer:

  • Weekend rentals (Fri–Mon)

  • Weekly rentals (7 days)

  • Fortnight rentals (14 days)

  • Monthly rentals (30 days)

4. Is there a deposit?

Yes. All rentals require a R1,000 refundable security deposit.

The deposit is refunded within 3 working days after the camera is returned and passes inspection.

5. How is the deposit refunded?

Deposits are refunded to the original payment method used at checkout via Peach Payments.
Refunds usually reflect within 2–5 working days, depending on your bank.

6. Can the deposit be deducted?

Yes. The deposit may be partially or fully deducted in cases of:

  • Damage to the camera or accessories

  • Missing items

  • Water damage or tampering

  • Late return

  • Loss or theft

A breakdown of any deductions will be provided.

7. How much is courier delivery?

Courier delivery and return collection is charged at R290 per order.

This fee covers:

  • Delivery to your address

  • Return collection after the rental period

Courier fees are non-refundable once delivery has been arranged.

8. Do the cameras work at night?

Yes. All cameras feature infrared night vision and can capture both photos and video in low-light or complete darkness.

9. Can I view the camera footage on my phone?

Yes. The cameras connect via 4G and allow remote viewing through a mobile app, provided sufficient data is loaded on the SIM card.

10. Does the SIM card include data?

No.


A SIM card may be provided, but data is not included. You will receive the SIM number so you can load your own data according to your needs.

11. Where can I use the camera?

Cameras can be used anywhere with:

  • Adequate 4G signal

  • Lawful permission to monitor the area

They are commonly used on farms, lodges, wildlife areas, and private property.

12. Can I cancel my rental?

  • Before dispatch: Cancellations may be refunded at our discretion

  • After dispatch: Rental and courier fees are non-refundable

The deposit remains refundable subject to inspection.

13. What happens if I return the camera early?

Early returns do not qualify for partial refunds.
The rental fee covers the full rental period booked.

14. What if the camera is lost or stolen?

You are responsible for the camera during the rental period.
In cases of loss or theft, the deposit may be retained, and additional charges may apply if the replacement cost exceeds the deposit.

15.  Can the trail cam work without the solar panel ?

Yes, the solar panel is only to charge the batteries but can be charged via a charging cord into the trail camera

16. Why does the payment show a different company name?

Rent-a-Trailcam is a trading brand operated by Solar Security Services (Pty) Ltd.
Payments and refunds may appear on your bank statement under this company name.
