Rent-a-Trailcam

These Terms & Conditions govern the rental of equipment from Rent-a-Trailcam, a trading brand operated by Solar Security Services (Pty) Ltd (“the Company”, “we”, “us”, “our”).

By placing an order on our website, you (“the Customer”, “you”) agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

1. Service Overview

Rent-a-Trailcam provides short-term rental of solar-powered 4G trail cameras for wildlife monitoring, security observation, and related lawful uses.

All rentals are subject to availability and acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

2. Eligibility to Rent

To rent equipment from Rent-a-Trailcam, you must:

  • Be 18 years or older

  • Provide a valid South African ID number

  • Provide a verifiable physical delivery address

  • Use a valid payment method in your own name

We reserve the right to decline rentals where information cannot be verified.

3. Rental Period

  • The rental period begins on the delivery date confirmed by the courier.

  • The rental period ends on the scheduled return collection date.

  • Early return does not entitle the Customer to a refund or credit.

Late returns may result in additional charges or deposit deductions.

4. Rental Fees

  • Rental fees are charged in advance

  • Rental fees are non-refundable once the rental period has started or equipment has been dispatched

  • Prices displayed on the website exclude the refundable security deposit and courier fee unless stated otherwise

5. Security Deposit

  • A refundable security deposit is required for all rentals

  • The deposit amount is displayed at checkout

  • Deposits are refunded within 3 working days after return and inspection, subject to these Terms

Deposit deductions may apply for damage, loss, late return, or misuse.

6. Courier & Delivery

  • All rentals are delivered and collected via courier

  • Courier fees cover delivery and return collection

  • Courier fees are non-refundable

  • The Customer is responsible for providing a correct and accessible delivery address

Failed deliveries or additional courier charges caused by incorrect information may be deducted from the deposit.

7. Use of Equipment

The Customer agrees to:

  • Use the equipment lawfully and responsibly

  • Follow any instructions provided with the equipment

  • Not tamper with, modify, or disassemble the equipment

  • Not sub-rent, lend, or transfer the equipment to a third party

The equipment must not be used for:

  • Illegal surveillance

  • Invasion of privacy

  • Any unlawful or unethical activity

8. SIM Card & Data Usage

  • A SIM card may be supplied with the device

  • No data is included

  • The Customer is responsible for loading and managing data usage

  • Excessive or abusive data usage may result in charges or deposit deductions

9. Damage, Loss, or Theft

The Customer is responsible for the equipment for the full rental period.

In the event of:

  • Damage

  • Loss

  • Theft

  • Water ingress

  • Missing components

The Company may:

  • Deduct repair or replacement costs from the deposit

  • Retain the full deposit if necessary

  • Invoice the Customer for any shortfall beyond the deposit

10. Inspection on Return

All equipment is inspected upon return.

Inspection includes:

  • Physical condition

  • Functionality

  • Completeness of accessories

Refunds are processed only after inspection is completed.

11. Cancellations

Before Dispatch

  • Cancellations before dispatch may be refunded at our discretion

  • Courier or administrative costs may still apply

After Dispatch

  • Rental fees and courier fees are non-refundable

  • Deposits remain refundable subject to inspection

12. Payments & Billing Disclosure

Rent-a-Trailcam is operated by Solar Security Services (Pty) Ltd.

All payments, deposits, and refunds are processed by Solar Security Services (Pty) Ltd and may appear on your bank or card statement under this name.

13. Card Payments & Fees

  • Payments are processed via secure payment gateways

  • Card processing fees are non-refundable

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The Company is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses

  • The Customer assumes all risk arising from the use of the equipment

  • The Company is not responsible for loss of animals, property, or data

15. Privacy & Data Protection

Personal information is collected for:

  • Rental verification

  • Payment processing

  • Courier delivery

  • Fraud prevention

All data is handled in accordance with POPIA and our Privacy Policy.

16. Breach of Terms

Failure to comply with these Terms may result in:

  • Immediate termination of the rental

  • Retention of the deposit

  • Legal recovery of damages

  • Blacklisting from future rentals

17. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Any disputes shall be subject to South African jurisdiction.
